Arequipa: They dictate protection measures for a woman who was assaulted by a same-sex couple

A woman who was mistreated by her partner received protection measures granted by the Fifth Subspecialized Court for Violence against Women.

The peculiarity is that it is a case of a couple made up of people of the same sex and where there is a relationship of violence. The measure requires the Regional Government of Arequipathe District Municipality of Cayma and the Aurora program, to help the victim overcome economic dependency and achieve her self-support.

Likewise, it was established that while the investigations are in progress, the accused party may not insult, shout or threaten the complainant, nor control their exits or the use of their cell phone. The court’s decision shows that justice is applied without restrictions.

Judge Giancarlo Torreblanca Gonzalesalso ordered that both people receive psychological help, as established in Law No. 30364, which sanctions psychological violence and punishes acts of control or domination, regardless of whether it is a coexistence between a man and a woman, between two men or two women, who have a relationship of coexistence.
