The Federal Revenue has warned Brazilians about the existence of scams based on an alleged regularization of the CPF. According to the Revenue, several taxpayers have received messages by SMS, WhatsApp or e-mails informing them of an irregular situation to be resolved. These messages, however, contain links that induce the person to pay a false fee for the purpose of regularizing the CPF.
There were cases of people who paid the amount, went to the IRS later and discovered that there was no pending. In other cases, there were pending issues, such as lack of declaration and fines for delay, so the amount paid, in this case, R$ 275.00, was useless.
Another victim paid the false fee, the service was not performed and he went to the institution. When doing the research, the declaration delivered was completely zeroed. The company reportedly told him that the rectification would cost another BRL 170.
CPF regularization, however, is free of charge and must be done by the official website of the IRS. In addition, the alerts sent by the Revenue do not include any access link. “When entering, the taxpayer must select the option ‘My CPF’, in which he will find guidelines on how to correct his registration status according to the irregularity in the system”, explained the Revenue.

The approach of criminals in messages brings identification as “Revenue” and using the term IRPF, as well as the colors of the entity and the national flag. These details lead the victim to believe that it is a message from an official agency of the federal government, which is false.
