The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, defended this Wednesday the use of inclusive language, which was banned in schools in the city of Buenos Airesand called on young people to “rebel thinking about others”, while defending the possibility that young people “speak as they want”.

This was stated when he led the Tecnópolis park in the 4th Grade Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of primary schools in 15 different districts of the province.

Accompanied by the General Director of Culture and Education, Alberto Sileoni; mayors, union representatives, directors and school teachers, the president said that “from Spain they are going to explain the words we use” and stressed: “We do not like to prohibit, we like that they can express themselves, say what they feel and be patriotic “.

Days ago, the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires prohibited its use in its schools in official documents and that teachers teach curricular content written with inclusive language through Circular 2566/2022 of the Ministry of Education.

In his speech today, Kicillof stressed that “one can be a patriot with simpler things, smaller and within everyone’s reach, such as taking care of the other or the one who has less” and reflected that “that is being a patriot.”

Then he pointed out that “Manuel Belgrano created the flag without orders to do so”indicated that he did it “as an act of rebellion, which earned him reproaches and challenges” and pointed out that “he did it despite the fact that many thought it was not convenient.”

In this framework, he explained that “it is worth thinking about rebellion, which is not doing what everyone is sung for and just because or for themselves, but what is for everyone” and added that “That is the rebellion that matters, the one that is for others, not the one that is for oneself.”

“Here he was rebelling against a domination, against a monarchy. It was rebelling thinking about others. Here in the province, rebelling is also speaking as one wants, as one wants,” Kicillof continued and clarified that this does not imply “saying bad words, but to express what one wants”.

He maintained that, “so long after the May Revolution, It will not be from Spain that they are going to explain to us the words that we use“, and stressed that “we do not like to prohibit, we like that they can express themselves, say what they feel and be patriotic”.

Likewise, the Governor explained that Belgrano is one of his favorite patriots, given that he is “a true example, an extraordinary person who was a lawyer, but also an economist, journalist, politician and soldier” and highlighted the ideas on education that this hero had: “He thought – like us – that education had to be public, free and for everyone”.

“Some are not convinced of this. We, like Belgrano, do think that education should be public and free,” he concluded and thanked the teachers for their daily work.
