Dollar drops to R$5.15 with relief in the foreign market

In a day of relief in the external market, the dollar had its first fall after two highs. Affected by risks in the local economy, the stock market was not so lucky and closed down, despite having started the day on a high.

The commercial dollar ended this Tuesday (21) sold at R$ 5.154, with a decrease of R$ 0.032 (-0.63%). The quotation came to operate close to stability during the morning, but began to fall during the afternoon, influenced by investors who took advantage of the high value of the last few days to sell dollars and because of the inflow of foreign flows.

With today’s performance, the US currency accumulates a high of 8.44% in June. In 2022, the currency fell by 7.57%.

The stock market had a more turbulent day. The B3 Ibovespa index closed at 99,684 points, down 0.17%. The indicator took off from the US stock exchanges, which rose today, due to the instability of Petrobras shares, the most traded on the Brazilian stock exchange.

Petrobras’ common shares (with voting rights at shareholders’ meetings) fell 1.06%. Preferred shares (with preference in the distribution of dividends) fell 1.99%. Since Friday (17), the shares of the state-owned company are falling amid the change of the company’s president.
