Judge María Esther Altamirano Manzanares, of the Matagalpa First Specialized Court for Violence, sentenced life imprisonment Pedro José Zamora García, 54, for murdering his partner Maritza Castro, 42.
On March 31 of this year, the victim’s body was found at the bottom of a latrine in her home after being reported missing by her relatives on the night of March 8.
The crime occurred in the El Cortijo community, belonging to the municipality of Rancho Grande, Matagalpa; place where Castro lived with his aggressor and his two daughters.

It was known that the femicide abused Maritza’s two daughters. She had two children with one of them and he also raped the 13-year-old girl.
After the femicide committed by Pedro Zamora to the detriment of Maritza Castro, Judge María Esther Altamirano alleged that the perpetrator acted with misogyny due to the “cruel violence” with which he carried out the crime.
Likewise, the court during the reading of the sentence stated that, “that accentuated patriarchal family scheme in which the victim Maritza Castro was immersed, subordinated to the mandates of the accused who at the same time had marital relations with the eldest daughter of the victim is evident. and he also had intimate relations with the youngest daughter of the victim, normalizing this way of life for the female victims, whom the accused evidently violated with this way of life, having the three of them as a couple.
Pedro Zamora’s crimes against more women
Pedro Zamora will spend the rest of his days in prison, since he has another pending accusation against him in the Matagalpa Specialized Court for Violence for rape of a minor under 14 years of age, to the detriment of the oldest of his stepdaughters, who is now 20 years old. .
Previously, the defendant was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a judge in Jinotega, because Zamora admitted to raping his partner’s youngest daughter and was added another year in prison for psychological injuries to the female.
