MIAMI, United States. – The Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés began his concert at the Coliseum of the Sports City of Havana at 8:30 this Tuesday, as planned after the protests that led to the change of venue of the recital.
Around 9:30, the island’s Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) posted on Facebook concert pictures and indicated that Milanés he sang to a “nearly full coliseum” in front of an audience that knew his songs by heart.
“There are thousands of people from various generations and even from other nationalities. There is applause after each melody and a respectful public that makes choirs of songs that made history”, added that state entity.
Two hours earlier, MINCULT itself had published a post that was deleted at around 10:00 at night and that reproduced verbatim the words of one of its spokespersons, Alexis Triana Hernández.
“Everything continues to run normally in the Coliseum of the Ciudad Deportiva La Habana, Cuba. Today is the Pablo Milanés concert. No explosive threat or incident. The public accesses from 6:00 pm and the invited press prepares to access the box”, tweeted Trina Hernandez.
In this way, both the official and the institution made a veiled allusion to the tension around the Milanés concert, who after praising the Cuban Revolution at first became one of its most forceful critics.
Also on social networks, numerous users criticized the MINCULT for trying to create panic among those attending the concert with the allusion to “the threat of explosives.”
For his part, the Cuban opponent Fabio Corchado denounced on Facebook that the stands of the coliseum were “full” of State Security agents.

According to the ICM, the change of location of the concert sought to “facilitate greater attendance at the concert”, which is part of the “Días de Luz” tour with which the musician has performed on stages in the United States and Spain.
