The Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) published this Tuesday the figures regarding the number of people in unemployment insurance. According to the document, in May 2022 this figure grew by 2,554 people compared to April and reached 46,501.
In addition, the report indicates that, of the total indicated above, 37,172 people are fully insured. This represents a proportion of almost eight out of 10 (79.9%). In contrast, partial insurance was in 20.1% of cases (9,327 cases).
“The number of workers in unemployment insurance is once again, after the reduction registered in April, within the average of the last semester,” says the document.
The report maintains that during May 7,560 people left the insurance: 3,018 returned to their jobs and the rest (4,542) received dismissal.
“10,114 almost a thousand more people entered unemployment insurance than in April and practically the same amount as in March. Of them, 4,540 (44.9%) entered unemployment insurance due to dismissal, while 5,574 (55.1%) were due to reduction or suspension”, he adds.
In the year-on-year comparison (with May 2021) the number of people decreased by 33,860 people.
“The analysis of the movements of workers in unemployment insurance for May 2022 shows a slight increase in the number of workers in most sectors of activity, highlighting the case of activities linked to the tourist movement, such as real estate activities, accommodation or food services and, on the other hand, from the manufacturing industry”, he concludes.
