The Ministry of Justice confirmed the commitment of the national government to comply with the provisional measure issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in 2017 in favor of the social leader Milagro Sala, during a meeting between the head of the area, Martín Soria, and representatives of the Committee for the Freedom of the Tupac Amaru referent.

In an important meeting, the Committee for the Freedom of Milagro Sala marched to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights under the slogan “Enough revenge against Milagro Sala.”

Soria reinforced the request that “the appeal to the provincial public powers be reiterated so that they act in full in accordance with the provisions of the resolutions of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, since non-compliance would imply the international responsibility of the federal State”it was reported in a statement.

It also reaffirmed the commitment of the National Government to comply with the provisional measure issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in 2017 in favor of Sala.

The representatives of the Committee expressed that in Jujuy “there is no rule of law, there is no independent Justice and democratic principles are systematically violated by the government” of Gerardo Morales and “the authorities of the Executive Branch.”

The organizations had requested a hearing with Soria to request that, in line with the precautionary measure issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Morales “order” that “he does not violate the Argentine Constitution,” Alejandro “Coco” Garfagnini told Télam , coordinator of Tupac Amaru and the Milagro Sala Front for Work and Dignity.

For his part, the Secretary of Justice, Juan Martín Mena, who also participated in the meeting, pointed out that “the provisional measures issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights are fully in force and the Jujuy Judiciary has the obligation to fully comply with them.” .

“The constant threat of transferring Milagro Sala again to a provincial prison, revoking her house arrest, is one more example of the political persecution unleashed against her, violates the resolutions of the inter-American system and generates international responsibility of the entire Argentine State for violating the human rights,” he added, according to a statement.

Both agreed to a new meeting in the coming weeks in the face of “concern about the systematic violation of rights” by Sala.

Participants in the meeting were Fernando Gómez (Frente Milagro Sala); Eduardo Tavani (APDH); Daniel Catalano (General Secretary ATE CABA); Alejandro Garfagnini (Tupac Amaru); Pablo Lucioni and Carlos González, among others.

On November 23, 2017, the Inter-American Court considered that Sala remained detained in conditions incompatible with her human dignity and that the method or manner of execution of the custodial measure was subjecting her to anguish or difficulties greater than the suffering intrinsic to all detention. , and issued a provisional measure in that sense.

Since then, the Inter-American Court not only maintains the provisional measure in force, but also receives periodic information denouncing the lack of judicial independence in the province and the impact that the particular criminal prosecution carried out has on the physical and mental integrity of the Chamber.
