Alexander Díaz Rodríguez, preso político, cáncer

Havana Cuba. – The opposition and member of the Union for Free Cuba Party (PUNCLI) Alexander Diaz Rodriguezimprisoned for participating in the protests of July 11, 2021 in Artemisa, is in “delicate state of health”, as he told CubaNet her aunt, Moraima Rodríguez Batista.

The interviewee also indicated that while her nephew is suffering from throat cancer, the regime does not provide him with adequate medical assistance.

“He started vomiting blood. They took him to the Combinado del Este hospital where he spent a few days under observation. Later they sent him back to the Guanajay prison. The result was throat cancer,” Rodríguez Batista lamented.

“If in prison there is not even a duralgin for a prisoner, why don’t they release my nephew and send him home, so that we can take him to the doctor and we can treat him by ourselves?” interviewed. “We are campaigning for Alexander to be released,” she added.

Rodríguez Batista, who is also a member of PUNCLI, explained that the opponent does not “have the strength to stand up and can hardly swallow. The prisoners themselves are the ones who give him juice, water with sugar, everything they give him is liquid because Alexander cannot eat, ”he lamented.

Alexander Díaz Rodríguez is being held in the Guanajay prison, where he is serving a six-year prison sentence for the alleged crime of contempt, a charge charged by the Cuban regime for participating in the historic protests of July 11, 2021 That same day he was arrested and imprisoned.

His aunt explained to CubaNet that he has tried “until the impossible” to get the criminal authorities to provide him with specific information about his nephew’s state of health, but he points out that he has achieved nothing. “I call the prison twice a day and nothing; I have requested an office with the head of the prison and he has never shown me his face”, he denounced.

Meanwhile, he also reports that last May, prison agents beat his nephew “brutally” because of a fast that he began in order to demand his rights.

“Alexander’s life is at stake. The regime is letting him die slowly and we cannot allow that. He did nothing; he only protested peacefully and that is not sanctioned by law in any country in the world because everyone has the right to express themselves freely, “he concluded.
