Panama will become the venue for the sixteenth edition of the Alfredo De Saint Malo International Academic Music Festival (ASMF), which will be held from June 22 to July 7, 2022 in different stages of the city.
The event organized by the Fundación Sinfonía Concertante de Panamá (FUNSINCOPA), will be held in homage to maestro Edgardo Quintero, composer, guitarist, teacher, jewel of Panamanian culture and folklore.
According to Isaac Casal, artistic director of the festival, in this version they hope to bring together more than 300 national and international musicians from 9 countries (Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the United States, Venezuela, Vietnam, Poland and Panama), who In addition, they will offer master classes and workshops, 19 musical presentations will be developed and the Festival Orchestra will be formed.
“We will listen to the songs of the famous composer Omar Alfano in arrangements by the Panamanian composer Andrés Carrizo. And, among the many jewels of the Festival, we will listen to compositions by Ricardo Risco and arrangements by Ariel González Cedre on the work of maestro Edgardo Quintero”, said Casal, who is also Founder and president of FUNSICOPA. Completing the tribute to Maestro Quintero, a documentary on the life and work of the musician is being produced by the Ganexa Art University and directed by Jorge Martínez.
He stressed that the concerts will take place in more than six different venues, such as the National Library, the National Theater, the Anita Villalaz theater, the City of Knowledge Athenaeum, the San José Church, the UTP theater and others. To date, the festival has had 15 successful editions, 182 concerts, 44,708 spectators, 33 participating countries, 2,228 hours of educational activities, 537 national artists, 393 foreign artists and around 5,428 members of 292 groups. They can also be appreciated through live broadcasts through the YouTube channel, TVPlus and Sertv.
