“Let’s take advantage of solar energy”, proposes Díaz-Canel in the midst of the energy crisis

Díaz-Canel, Apagones, Cuba

Madrid Spain.- In the midst of the energy crisis that Cuba is going through, for which Cubans are suffering from blackouts of more than eight hours, President Miguel Díaz-Canel suggested taking advantage of solar energy.

This June 21, coinciding with the Summer Solstice, the ruler from his account in Twitter He called “to think about how much more we can take advantage of solar energy, as part of renewable energies”.

A few days before, Díaz-Canel had mentioned on national television that Cuba does not have the electrical capacity “for what the life of the population is demanding,” but “the government makes every effort to affect the population as little as possible.”

“As long as the blackouts continue and we continue to feel the inconvenience,” he said, including himself among those who suffer from this situation, “the dissatisfactions will continue and it will be difficult to change the states of opinion,” he added.

For her part, the president’s wife, Lis Cuesta Peraza, also recently said she felt identified with the reality of Cubans, which is totally alien to her.

“With my heart in mop mode due to the overwhelming blackouts, I went, without sleeping, to the Meteoro and from there to the Closure of Cubadisco,” Cuesta said with his usual language used in social networks that unleashes mockery and/or indignation from Cubans. .

The unsustainable blackouts of recent months, added to statements like these by those who run the country, have provoked different demonstrations throughout the island.

Such is the case of the increase in graffiti against the Cuban president and his government or the protests such as that of the scholarship students from the “Ignacio Agramonte” University of Camagüey and the cacerolazo of the inhabitants of the town of Manzanillo, in the province of Granma.

Also reported earlier this month was the case of the young Cuban Amelia Calzadillawho fearlessly unleashed his frustration against the country’s leaders through a direct Facebookin which he blamed the Minister of Energy and Mines for high electricity prices.

Twenty-four hours later, a wave of solidarity with Amelia, the mother of three school-age children in Cuba, was unleashed on social networks.
