The XXL weekend generated an economic impact of $55 billion

The tourist mobility of the last long weekend generated “a spill in the regional economies and in the interior of the country.”

The Secretary of Tourism of the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME), Gregorio Werchow, assured this Tuesday that the tourist mobility of the last long weekend It generated “a spillover in the regional economies and in the interior of the country”, with “an economic impact of $55,000 million”.

In that line, According to the Secretary of Tourism of CAME, the total economic impact “after surveying more than 1,000 cities in the 24 provinces, including the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, was 55,000 million pesos”.

He also stated that “in these four days of mobilization, we once again set a record with 2,300,000 tourists and 2,100,000 hikers”, and specified: “In this weekend, as we call XXL, what we have improved is the average overnight stay that was 3.3 and also the level of spending that increased”.

He explained that although “part of the increase is due to the inflationary issue, much of it is also explained by the greater propensity to consume due to the fact that this year there were four days instead of three.”

“So, If we look at each of the indicators we have seen that we have grown in overnight stays, we have seen that we have grown in the level of tourist mobility and we have also grown in the level of spending”he pointed.

“We are very satisfied with this mobility and we see the high propensity to vacation and enjoy weekends within the country, and this is very good for the local economy and for service providers,” concluded Werchow.
