Son of Francisco Aguirre Sacasa regrets the isolation to which his father is subjected

Roberto Aguirre Sacasa, son of the political prisoner Francisco Aguirre Sacasa, in the framework of the celebration of Father’s Day in the United States, lamented that in almost a year he has not been able to establish any type of communication with his father, who since July 27, 2021 became one more prisoner of the Daniel Ortega dictatorship.

Since February 18, Francisco Aguirre Sacasa was sent to “home detention” with police custody, the Public Ministry reported in a statement. Like Aguirre, they passed to the same regime political prisoners Jose Pallais Arana and Arturo Cruz.

Aguirre Sacasa, despite being under the “house arrest” prison regime, maintains maximum restrictions by the Police at the service of the Daniel Ortega dictatorship.

A source on condition of anonymity revealed to the team of Article 66 that the nine political prisoners who are serving their prison sentence phone calls are prohibited, they cannot have cable television service and they have surveillance even to go to the bathroom.

As for medical attention, the Ortega regime prohibited them from being taken to a private clinic or for a doctor to treat them at their homes. The only option “if they want” is to go to “El Nuevo Chipote” to be treated by a general doctor.

The also former foreign minister of Nicaragua, this Monday, celebrates 328 days in prison. Ortega’s justice, on February 7, convicted him of allegedly “conspiring to undermine national integrity” and sentenced him to eight years in prison.

According to the Mechanism for the Recognition of Political Prisoners, in Nicaragua there are 190 prisoners of conscience by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo. All have been victims of torture, according to reports from their families.
