After an extraordinary session of the Board of Supreme Prosecutorsconvened this Monday June 20 by Paul Sanchezwho assumed the interim position of prosecutor of the nationwas unanimously chosen Liz Benavides-Vargas as the new representative of said institution.
In that line, Benavides Vargas and Juan Carlos Villena Campana were sworn in as new supreme prosecutors last June 14, in a ceremony that was attended by the president of the National Board of Justice (JNJ)Henry Avila.

Who is Liz Benavides Vargas, the new prosecutor of the Nation?
Liz Benavides-Vargas53 years old, She is a lawyer by profession from the University of Lima and a native of Huancavelica. The lawyer has a master’s degree in criminal law and constitutional guarantees from the University of Jaén, Spain, as well as a doctorate in law from the Alas Peruanas University.
According to the woman in law, she has 27 years of experience in the Public ministry. There, she started as a deputy prosecutor until reaching the position of deputy supreme prosecutor, working in the fiscal districts of Huancavelica, Ica and Lima.

Benavides Vargas worked with the last five prosecutors of the Nation in the office responsible for the complaints to the magistrates, in which he promoted cases such as the Switchboard, the Orellana network and The White Necks of the Port, where judges and prosecutors are involved.
The now prosecutor of the Nation obtained the first place in the list of merits of the selection process of incumbent supreme prosecutors in which he participated, after obtaining a final average of 89.09, after obtaining 98 points in the knowledge exam and 100 in the curricular evaluation, 79.80 in the case study and 82.14 in the personal interview.
It should be noted that Paul Sanchez temporarily occupied the position of prosecutor of the Nation since last March 30, after the management of Zoraida Avalos.
