The Colombian William Tesillo, defense of Lion On Friday, he reproved the racist comments he received from the narrator Raúl Pérez in the first leg of the semifinal of the Apertura 2021 between his team and the UANL Tigres.
“A very reckless and nonsensical comment made by Mr. Raúl Pérez during the transmission of the Tigres vs. León game hurt my family, all the people who support me, they love me and many more people,” the footballer complained, who was already threatened with death in 2019.
Pérez said “Tesillo’s bruises are not going to be seen” while narrating the match on Wednesday that the Tigers beat Leon 2-1 in which the Colombian team in the last Copa América participated in the 90 minutes.
The commentator apologized for his words Thursday on his Twitter account and apologized, saying that what he said was not intended to be interpreted. Tesillo accepted the apology, but assured that he should not remain silent when faced with an expression of racism.
“My obligation is to express anger and disagreement in a situation like this, in which the issue of racism and discrimination should not be taken lightly. Such comments will always be unacceptable,” added the 31-year-old defender. Tesillo added that soccer should be an example for everyone and trusted that racist incidents will not be repeated in Mexican football.
The Lion also showed his support for Tesillo on his social networks with an image of the defender in which he wrote “on this team we are all the same” and “on this team #TodosSomosTesillo”.
Tesillo signed for León in the 2018 Apertura and since his arrival he has established himself as the starter of the Mexican Bajío team with which he won the league title in the 2020 Apertura.
The South American is concentrating for the second leg of the semifinals against the Tigres, whom the Lion will receive this Saturday at their Nou Camp stadium.
