The diplomat said that the inauguration of the air route is scheduled for August and with a frequency of twice a week.
One advantage that Zepeda highlighted is that Neither Dominicans nor Guatemalans require a visa. to travel between countries. However, Dominicans must show economic solvency to enter Guatemala and evidence of the hotel reservation or proof of where their stay will be.
Balance of trade
The ambassador spoke about the trade balance between the Dominican Republic and Guatemala, which is around $200 million, 80% in favor of the Central American country. He said that many foods, beverages, textiles, and pharmaceuticals are bought from Guatemala.
“Guatemala is a good market for products that can be produced here in the Dominican,” he added. “At the end of the day, I see Guatemala and the Dominican Republic as countries that complement us, not that we compete with,” she said.
Zepeda also indicated that, although there are Dominican investments in Guatemala, the strongest weight comes from the Central American country with businesses in mills, sugar mills, electricity, paintings, warehouses, among other sectors.
