This Tuesday the union resumes strikes in dairy industries

cromo

The Federation of Dairy Industry Workers (FTIL) decided to resume union action starting at midnight this Monday, in response to a statement from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) proposing an agreement between the employers’ and workers’ sectors that contains a peace clause that the FTIL does not accept.

The announced measure consists of an eight-hour strike per worker, to be implemented between the hour 0 of this Tuesday, June 21 and Saturday 25.

Each union, in each industrial complex, will decide what day and at what time the workers will carry out this strike (there are eight hours, once each worker, it was clarified).

FTIL sources told this Monday to The Observer that, as announced, this measure is part of a set of decisions that can be announced and activated at any timeuntil there is an agreement that is satisfactory to their interests, which depends on the non-inclusion of a peace clause of the type that the business sector wishes to establish.

For its part, from the business sector they chose not to make statements, given that this new conflict scenario will be analyzed this Tuesday by the authorities of the Chamber of the Dairy Industry of Uruguay (CILU).

In any case, A source from the industrial sector admitted that this new union measure could accentuate the supply problem of some products in the domestic marketa situation that has been expressed practically since the beginning of the conflict, more than two months ago.

Last week the president of the National Association of Milk Producers (ANPL), Leandro Galarraga, informed The Observer that In a meeting they held with Pablo Mieres, they transferred to the Minister of Labor their decision not to expose their cows to health problems (delaying milking) and even throwing milk in the event that the product is not removed from the cold tanks in a timely manner, as a consequence of delays in the logistics of collecting the raw material due to strikes.

Galarraga, in that instance, also affirmed that from the productive sector the dairy farmers had urged Conaprole not to sign any agreement, within the framework of the Salary Councils, that does not include the aforementioned peace clause.
