This Monday, as has happened since last April 25, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) issued its weekly report regarding the current situation of the covid-19 coronavirus disease in the country. According to this document, in the last week, which includes June 12 to 18, the indicators of this pathology presented an improvement with respect to the report of the immediately previous week.
In the first place, in the seven days indicated above, a total of 8,071 new infections were registered. This figure represents almost 900 fewer infections compared to the immediately previous week (June 5 to 11), where there were 8,916 new infections.
On the other hand, the number of people with the disease (active cases) also fell, going from 8,214 to 7,496. This translates into 718 fewer cases.
The positivity of the tests (percentage of tests that were positive of the total that were carried out) also decreased. With 41,863 tests carried out, this figure was 19.3%, against the 22.8% registered from June 5 to 11.
Six deaths less compared to the previous report
In the week indicated in the last report, a total of 22 deaths of people who were coronavirus patients occurred, six fewer cases compared to the report before this one.
On the other hand, the number of people hospitalized in intensive care centers (ICU) grew. As of June 18, the occupancy of the beds in these rooms was 67.9% of the total and 6.1% occupancy by people with covid (46 people). Although before the general occupation was 68.3%, the beds occupied by people with coronavirus represented 5% (40 people).
