“Bolivia and the other countries in the region have made an exemplary effort to confront the pandemic, protect the most vulnerable, promote a path of economic growth that is consistent with the fight against climate change, and advance in the recovery of fiscal spaces and the stabilization of debt in the medium term,” said the executive president of CAF, Sergio Diaz-Granados.
“This credit is aimed at contributing to the timely execution of Bolivian public resourceshelping with territorial budget management, as the unconditional ally that we are,” he said.
The program It also has as objectives to improve the evaluation of the indebtedness capacity of the Territorial and Autonomous Entities (ETA), in this case, of the municipal governments and governments of the different departments of the country, and promote and improve the transparency and reliability of territorial finances.
Among 2017 and 2021, CAF approved credit operations in favor of Bolivia for US$2,216 million and disbursed a total of US$2,088 million, at an annual average of US$418 million.
The multilateral organization has been contributing to the country mainly in road infrastructure and transportation projects for integration, water and basic sanitation for social and environmental development, and support for efficient public management for economic stability.
Data from the Ministry of Development Planning show that from 2006 to April of this year almost US$12,994 million in international credits were disbursed to the State. In 2021, the amount was $1,366 million, surpassed only by those registered in 2017 (1,395 million) and 2019 (1,520 million).
