Among the messages of congratulations and support that the leader of the left has received, that of the current Secretary of State for the United States, Antony Blinken, who, through his Twitter account, highlighted the development of what was the second presidential round, while indicating that his country is willing to maintain relations with Colombia, as it has done for years.

Notably Colombia and the United States celebrated 200 years of diplomatic relations and this is the first time that a left-wing leader has come to power, so expectations are quite high about what his government and foreign relations will be like for the period 2022–2026.

As for Latin America, the rulers of these countries, mainly from the left, also greeted the newly elected president and the Colombian people, including Nicolas Maduro (Venezuela), Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Mexico), Miguel Díaz-Canel (Cuba) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Brazil).
