In a meeting held on the morning of this Monday, June 20, in the Province of Herrera, the process of disclosing the regulations for the election of the representative of the victims or affected by diethylene glycol began, during the meeting, the authorities stressed that they can only participate those affected who are duly recognized.
According to the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González, of the one thousand one (1,001) registered affected, a representative will be chosen and that only these are authorized to participate in the vote.
He stressed that a national unification is of the utmost importance, which will be achieved with these elections so that the representative of the victims directly articulates the different situations that may arise.
For her part, the director of the National Coordination for Transparency and Institutional Development of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Katia Quiel, said that the information on these elections, which will take place on September 22, is being disclosed so that patients have knowledge that a representative may have, as many of them indicate that the person calling themselves a representative does not currently represent them.
“It is important for those who are certified (1,001 in total) to be aware that they can choose through a list of lists and can carry out those intentions of electing a person summoned by all, so that their rights can be represented,” he pointed out. Quiel.
He also added that many of those affected, certified and non-certified, pointed out certain concerns that will be dealt with in one way or another by the CSS. The opening of the dialogue has been given and to be able to know first-hand what their needs are.
Likewise, the leader of the independent intoxicated patients of the province of Herrera considered the electoral process very positive to achieve a unified representation before the Monitoring Commission attached to the Ministry of Health (MINSA).
“Law 20 of 2013 establishes that, within the seven members of the Commission, a representative and an alternate on the part of the persons certified for poisoning by diethylene glycol. This law orders the Ombudsman to be the entity that organizes the election and we start with a verification on the website of those who can apply and who can exercise the vote ”he emphasized.
