The political analyst Richard Morales, analyzed this Monday the results of the elections in Colombia, held on Sunday where Gustavo Petro was the winner.

He stated that this is a victory for the popular sectors of the Colombian left. “We are talking about a country that has suffered from historical violence that has some of the most powerful and backward elites in the Latin American region, and that has used violence in the past to prevent the left from coming to power at all costs,” remarked.

He said that the great problem of Colombia and the rest of other countries is that they depend on the export of some natural resource such as oil, like “coca”.

He added that we are facing a new president who has the agenda that one would expect, such as the right to education, fighting inequality, the right to health and pensions, among others.
