“Wood Week” plans to promote the forestry-industrial sector of Paraguay

Hoy Paraguay

The Paraguayan Federation of Loggers (Fepama) organizes several activities for its so-called “Wood Week”, Edition 2022, whose launch will be this Wednesday, June 22 during a field visit in Caazapá and will end on the 30th of the same month, the date on which The “Day of the Timber Industry” is celebrated.

The agenda includes a field visit for this Wednesday, June 22, to be held at Estancia Tapyta of the firm Desarrollos Madereros with the participation of special guests and authorities from the sector. There, a plaque of recognition will also be presented to the directors of the company for their constant innovation and their contribution to the forestry sector in Paraguay.

Likewise, that same day a visit to the Langraf de Villarrica industrial plant, in the capital of the department of Guairá, is planned, where an act of homage will also be held for its innovative products.

Similar activities will be developed during the week involving other logging companies such as Fimasa and Bricapar. In the latter, on Thursday, June 30, the central act will be held for the “Day of the Timber Industry” and the closing of the event.

All this will be accompanied by virtual seminars and a planting day at the Parque Guasú Metropolitano on Saturday, June 25, at 09:00.

The objective of this undertaking is to promote the forestry-industrial sector of Paraguay, taking into account that it is an important segment capable of generating triple impact results: Economic, social and environmental:

-Economically, the productive chain of the forestry-industrial sector encompasses an extensive network of work activities from the Forestry Nursery, planting, thinning, tree pruning, felling, transportation, sawmilling, industrialization, export and the generation of foreign currency to the country.

-In the social sphere, the forestry production chain creates permanent sources of work and in great quantity, mainly in the countryside, creating job opportunities for compatriots, allowing rural families to take root.

-Environmentally, reasonable and managed forest activity contributes to environmental sustainability, carbon sequestration and emission reduction.

“With these activities we also provide recognition to the work of innovative industries that use wood as raw material or manufacture their products with derivatives of national forest production,” said Raúl Legal, president of Fepama.

He noted that June 30, “Day of the Timber Industry”, coincides with the commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of the creation of the Federation, whose origin dates back to 1950.
