The National Federation of Dominican Transportation (Fenatrado) announced yesterday that they will apply new rates in cargo transportation due to the measures taken by the authorities to reduce truck traffic in the National District.
The president of Fenatrado, Ricardo de los Santos, reported that the new measures that seek to decongest traffic in Greater Santo Domingo have an impact on operating costs.
He explains that to avoid the aforementioned demarcation they have to travel a greater distance, which affects the consumption of fuels, oils, tires, maintenance, in addition to having to pay several tolls.
“We are only going to transfer to our clients what is the additional cost for paying the toll. We hope that our clients and society in a general sense understand that the situation of the truckers does not allow us to assume all this cost, so we have to transfer it ”, said de los Santos during a press conference at the Fenatrado headquarters.
The also legislator of the province Sánchez Ramírez explained that the additional cost to pay will depend on the direction to which the load is directed, that is, a trip with a truck with four axles or more that leaves from Haina to the east and vice versa. you will pay a difference of RD $ 2,142.
For a trip from Haina to the north and vice versa, there will be a difference to be paid of RD $ 720, towards Caucedo-North and vice versa, you will pay RD $ 1,422, and a trip from the south to the east RD $ 1,902.
Whereas, those three-axle trucks that go in the direction Haina-east will pay a differential of RD $ 1,700, Haina-north and vice versa RD $ 540, direction Caucedo to the north RD $ 1,182 and from the south to the east and vice versa RD $ 1,542.
De los Santos emphasized that this additional cost must be paid even with the reduction that was announced of 60 percent and that is currently being paid.
Likewise, this measure will be applied as of next Monday, December 6.
The mayor of the Carolina Mejía National District, reported last Wednesday that as of next Monday the regulatory measures for cargo vehicles in the Restricted Access Zone (ZAR) of the City of Santo Domingo will be permanently maintained.
Freight vehicles whose routes do not have as origin or destination the ZAR, must use the alternate routes.
The toll price readjustment was agreed
Ricardo de los Santos, president of the National Federation of Dominican Transportation (Fenatrado), affirmed yesterday that the readjustment in the toll price was agreed with the Dominican business sector. De los Santos argued that the measure of non-circulation of cargo transport through the National District was effective from the pilot, stating that it contributed to improving the circulation of pedestrians and vehicles through this demarcation.
