The ex-president Martin Vizcarra was presented this Sunday 19 in an interview on and ruled out gravity of the investigations against him being carried out by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Vizcarra blamed former prosecutor Pedro Chávarry for having made a political decision by reopen the investigations against himand that is why these processes “are not going to lead anywhere”.
When asked about the fear of going to jail, the president denied it. “Not at all, because our actions have always been absolutely clear, honest and transparent”said the former head of state for TV Peru.
In addition, he asserted that the investigations against him were a consequence of Pedro Chávarry’s cruelty. “Two or three weeks ago former prosecutor Chávarry was in the Congress of the Republic, and in plenary he said: ‘I had a confrontation with President Vizcarra and ordered that the investigations that he had already archived be reopened.’ He has said it.” Vizcarra stated.

Vizcarra considered that the former prosecutor’s decision shows that “he is not aware of the process” by having taken a “political decision with interference in the administration of justice”. Given this, the former president stated that he felt safe with the final decision of these investigations, which, according to him, “They are not going to lead anywhere.”
However, although the former head of state assures that during his government they proceeded with transparency, this is not entirely true, since there are investigations against his former Minister of AgricultureJose Manuel Hernández, who assured that had been used by the former president to receive alleged bribes.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Hernández even accepted the effective collaboration in March 2021 in the case of the former president. This was announced by prosecutor Germán Juárez, from the Lava Jato Special Team.
