The second election day to finally define who will be the next president of Colombia has seen marked by rain in various cities of the country.

According to Law 403 of 1997, “By which incentives are established for voters”, regulated by Decree 2559 of 1997, some of the benefits you can obtain are:
BE PREFERRED FOR ADMISSION TO AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION
The law explains that “Whoever participates in the immediately preceding votes will have the right to be preferred, compared to those who unjustifiably have not done so, in the event of equal scores in the entrance exams for public or private institutions of higher education.”

REDUCTION IN THE TIME OF PROVISION OF THE MILITARY SERVICE
Congress states that “Anyone who has participated in the voting immediately prior to recruitment into military service will be entitled to a reduction of one (1) month in the time of rendering this service, in the case of high school soldiers or high school police assistants, and two (2) months, in the case of peasant soldiers or regular soldiers”.
BE PREFERRED ON THE STATE EMPLOYMENT LIST
It is established that “Whoever participated in the immediately preceding vote shall have the right to be preferred, compared to those who unjustifiably did not do so, in the event of equal scores on the list of those eligible for a State career job.”

BE PREFERRED FOR EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The law states that “Whoever exercised the right to vote in the immediately preceding vote will have the right to be preferred, compared to those who unjustifiably did not, in the award of educational scholarships, rural properties and housing subsidies offered by the State, in case of equality. conditions strictly established in open competition”.
DISCOUNT ON OFFICIAL INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION TUITION
“Clarified by art. 1, Law 815 of 2003, the student of an official institution of higher education will be entitled to a discount of 10% of the cost of registration, if he proves that he has paid in the last vote carried out prior to the start of the respective academic terms.
HALF-DAY PAID COMPENSATORY REST
“The citizen will have the right to a half-day of paid compensatory rest for the time he uses to fulfill his function as an elector. Such compensatory rest will be enjoyed in the month following the day of the vote, in agreement with the employer.”
