The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, was present at the Plaza Independencia, to remember the 258th birthday of Artigas.
In the emblematic square, an offering of flowers was placed at the foot of the monument. The event was attended by several ministers.
Among them, the head of Transport and Public Works, José Luis Falero. Also present was the Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Irene Moreira, accompanied by the senator and leader of Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Ríos.
After carrying out this ceremony in homage to the birth of José Gervasio Artigas, he will go to the square that bears his name in Canelones, specifically to the town of Sauce.
