“I try to make the customer make the purchase safely”

"I try to make the customer make the purchase safely"

Glenys Abreu is the owner of Styles By Glenys, dedicated to the sale of high-quality “second-hand” clothing.

Entrepreneurship is a word that remains fixed in Glenys Abreu’s dictionary of life. She is the creator and owner of Styles By Glenys, a new second-hand clothing business that has been on the path of success since it emerged a little less than three years ago.

It has been necessary to inject energy and dedication in all that time, but it has been worth it. The acceptance of the public and the receptivity are an indication that with the small business, very fertile ground has been planted. A land that feeds, fundamentally, on the purchases made by the female gender.

It is the segment that it has been aimed at, basically, but Glenys does not limit itself and is willing to expand the portfolio of offers, to respond to a clientele that has been growing over time and based on positive references from satisfied buyers. And naturally, the investment in advertising and marketing that it has been making has added to it.

The clothes sold by Styles By Glenys are available to all social classes. It is American clothing, for the most part, of fine quality and brand, well recognized in the Dominican Republic. For this reason, the Glenys clientele is as diverse as the different pieces that are requested every day.

Thanks to the style of selling that the young entrepreneur possesses – she usually makes videos and photos of the clothes and offers information about them, including the brands and the type of fabric – no customer has so far regretted having bought, much less has returned what he bought.

“If I have to take the time to ask the client for measurements, I do it. And I do it because since the person is buying virtually, I have to try to make sure that they are satisfied and that each piece of clothing is just right for them and their taste,” Glenys tells the elCaribe newspaper, in a mid-morning conversation. At that time of day, she has already received a significant number of orders, which she must send to both sides of the capital. And out of this.

“I am very specific in the details of the piece, so that the person makes a safe purchase and does not regret it,” she adds. It is a topic that she talks about easily. She knows the dynamics and relationship between supply and demand.

Glenys has suppliers in the local market and is implementing a new commercial scheme, consisting of selling clothing owned by other women through its platforms. “These are girls who have their closet full of clothes, but have decided to sell part of them. What we do is that -once I sell them- then we divide the profits fifty percent for them and the other fifty for me, ”she explains.

For that type of synergy that he refers to, which is a win-win, or shared win, many girls approach him. It is a model that also allows you to supply part of your Styles By Glenys company.

The store has a high range; it is not limited to a x place. When the client is outside of Santo Domingo, for example, then Glenys takes advantage of one of the shipping businesses to make deliveries, or does it through one of the transport companies that travel to the towns or provinces. This service is paid by the client.

In the event that the package is addressed to some point in the city of Santo Domingo (local purchase), the delivery is made by Uber, or sends a courier who can arrive at the door of the receiver’s house or at his place of employment. “I must say that I have worked a lot. People find it very easy to work from home and online, but you work 24/7 (every day of the week). You are the one who sells, the one who dispatches, the one who takes the orders and the one who packs. You are everything in this type of business” explains the owner of Styles By Glenys.

He does not run away from work and before that he had a physical business for two years; the stores were physical, but he removed them for a time issue and resumed them virtually. She is satisfied with what has been achieved. He can be contacted on social media, via @Stylesbyglenys and by phone at 829-645-4828.

It has invested in advertising to reach a greater number of customers and followers. “If you want them to know what you do, you must invest in advertising. I have made a good investment in that. Since I am not paying for a physical location, I pretend that I am, and I invest that part from time to time in advertising”, he argues.

The objective is that everyone who does not know that she exists and does not know what she is doing can reach her page.

How does capital and profit management work? This newspaper asks the innovator Glenys Abreu. The question arises regarding the fact that a poor handling of the “inputs” can end up risking any business initiative and throwing away all the effort that was “sown”. The saleswoman is very clear about it and knows which is north of her.

“Look, fortunately, in this type of business you work with very few cash payments and I always try to make sure that the money that comes in goes to an account,” he says.
