After being declared the winner of the elections of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), by the Central Electoral Commission, Editrudis Beltranwill begin on July 16 his mandate as rector of that state house of studies.
With 71.5 percent of the votes cast, Beltrán obtained 1,321 votes in his favor, for 57.4 percent, while his opponent, Jorge Asjana Davidobtained 929, for a total of 40.4 percent of the votes cast.
In this sense, the current rector of the Autonomous, Emma Polancocongratulated Beltrán and the candidates who were elected as vice-chancellors, deans, vice-deans, directors of schools, campuses, centers and sub-centers.
“In wishing you and auguring you the greatest successes in the performance of your respective functions within the framework of the management to begin on July 16, I advance my full support in all the plans aimed at making our academy, Alma Mater of all and all, remain institutionally strong”Polanco maintained when congratulating Editrudis Beltran.
Beltran’s plans
The next rector of the Autonomous University pointed out that his management will work with a strategic program that was designed based on consultations with each of the regional university campuses, centers, faculties and subcenters and, as he explained, it will have 10 axes.
He stated that in the UASD there must be a profound transformation, which he will achieve together with his team of vice-chancellors.
He assured that he will work on the modernization of the Autonomous, which includes the teaching, administrative and financial aspects, with the efficiency of spending.
Likewise, he pointed out that work will be done on the gradual reduction of the number of hours in which the teachers are in front of the students, currently it is 40 to 60 hours a week. In that sense, he said that he will designate a commission to work on it.
Another of the points that he assured will address is the overcrowding of classrooms, since he understands that there are classrooms that only have capacity for 20 and 30 students and in some cases up to 80 are assigned.
“We already have in our strategic plan how to solve that,” Beltrán explained.
The teaching modalities are also part of the work proposal that Beltrán will carry out in the Autonomous University, applying face-to-face, virtual, semi-virtual or hybrid and the distance modality, this in order to expand the curricular offer.
After knowing the first results of the elections, Jorge Asjana David recognized the victory of Editrudis Beltran in the UASD elections.
Asjana was Beltrán’s opponent in the elections on June 15 and admitted his defeat, without knowing the first bulletin of the Electoral Commission of the academy.
Second round in Santiago
While in Santiago there will be a second round to elect the new director of the venue UASD. Voting will be next Wednesday the 22nd of this month and the two opponents who obtained the most votes will participate, out of four that appeared in the first round.
In that sense, the teachers Juan Arias, who obtained 77 votes in the process last Wednesday, and Luis Balboa, who reached 75, will face each other.
