The ombudsman in charge, Eliana Revollar, said to expect “transparency, publicity and citizen participation” in the election of the new head of the entity, a process that is in charge of the Congress of the republic.
Speaking to reporters after the Council for the Reform of the Justice System carried out in the Government Palace, the official stressed that the selection process must be carried out respecting the corresponding deadlines.
“What does the Ombudsman expect from this new commission? That it be a process where transparency, publicity, citizen participation are guaranteed so that a defender who has all the merits and credentials arrives at our institution”he expressed.

“The election of the Ombudsman must take place with the deadlines that are considered to guarantee compliance with the parameters”added Revollar, who insisted that the elected head must have the credentials and all the legal safeguards.
However, the person in charge of Ombudsman He indicated that all the powers of the State must respect the decisions of the Judiciary and that there are various mechanisms to appeal any ruling.
In the same way, he questioned that the Parliament had decided to denounce the supernumerary judge of the Third Specialized Constitutional Court of Lima, John Paredes Salas, for prevarication for ordering the suspension of the election process.
“We do not share this position. There are mechanisms to appeal the decision and that it be a collegiate who can review the precautionary measure, and also verify if the judge is going to avoid continuing with the substance of the matter or not “he underlined.
