The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, toured the facilities where the Azuero Oncology Center will operate within the Anita Moreno regional hospital, located in La Villa de Los Santos.
Sucre pointed out that the project, which will soon be a reality, will be part of the National Oncology Network, which will have facilities in Chiriquí, Veraguas, Los Santos and a new Oncology hospital in Panama City.
The minister visited the oncology section and the radiology area, which has modern equipment for computed tomography, mammography, among others. In addition, he visited other sections of the hospital, such as the operating room, which is still being completed.
The head of Health pointed out that the arrival of a team is expected soon to prepare the chemotherapies so that the Azuero Cancer Center can provide services during the month of July or August.
“The Azuero Anita Moreno regional hospital is becoming a second-tier hospital with state-of-the-art technology,” said Sucre.
Prior to the tour, the head of Health signed the order to proceed with the construction project on the roof of the surgery module and hospitalization rooms of the Joaquín Pablo Franco Sayas hospital in the city of Las Tablas, for an amount greater than 185,000 balboas.
Likewise, he participated in the delivery of a digital fluoroscope which will allow timely diagnosis of a series of diseases of the digestive system.
