Bogotá Metro: it will not have drivers, why it will be green and other details

It is estimated that in 2028 the inhabitants of the capital -at last- have the train system of the meterone of the most ambitious, controversial and, of course, the most anticipated projects, since mobility has become one of the biggest headaches of Bogota’s day-to-day life.

A glimpse of what will be Bogota Metro It has been released this Thursday, after the first images of what the wagons that will make up this train system will be known. According to the subway company, the first car will arrive in Bogotá in the last quarter of this year.

The first of the trains will depart from the port of Tianjin, in China to the port of Barranquilla, from where it will be transported by road to settle in the Children’s Park, in Carrera 60 with Calle 63, west of the capital.

Bogotá Metro will not have drivers

Technology will be one of the main features of the trains, which will be 100% electric, in addition to having a railway signaling system and automatic train control –or CBTC– for the safe movement of trains.

Likewise, the wagons will have a telecommunications system between trains that “will help make the passenger transport system safe and reliable,” as well as a series of audiovisual information that passengers can find to check routes and times. Standby.

As for the drivers, it has been announced that the trains will not have, since they will be operated automatically by the Unattended Train Operation (UTO) system.

Finally, passengers will be able to find intercoms, as a tool to contact workers in an emergency.
