In a note released to the press, the PF, which coordinates the crisis committee to investigate the case, also reported that the investigations are continuing and that, although there is no mastermind, other people must be involved in the crime and new arrests may occur in the coming days. .

Yesterday (16), the Federal Police plane that transported the human remains found during the search for the indigenist and the journalist landed at around 6:30 pm at Brasília Airport. O material was taken to the National Institute of Criminalistics, where he will be examined for identity confirmation.

The remains were found during searches carried out in the presence of fisherman Amarildo da Costa Oliveira, known as Pelado. He confessed to participating in the disappearance and indicated the place where the bodies were buried, an area of ​​dense forest about three kilometers from the channel of the Itaquaí River, a tributary of the Javari River.

Faced with the confession, the PF went to the place, where the reconstruction of the crime scene was carried out.

Bishop Phillips, who is a contributor to the British newspaper The Guardianand Bruno Pereira, a licensed servant of the National Indian Foundation (Funai), were last seen on Sunday morning (5), in the region of the Vale do Javari indigenous reserve, the second largest in the country, with more than 8, 5 million hectares.

The place concentrates the largest number of isolated or recently contacted indigenous peoples in the world. They were moving from the riverside community of São Rafael to the city of Atalaia do Norte (AM), when they disappeared without a trace.

The indigenist denounced that he was being threatened in the region, information confirmed by the PF, which opened an investigative procedure on this complaint. Bruno Pereira was working as a collaborator for the Union of Indigenous Organizations of the Javari Valley (Univaja), an entity maintained by the indigenous people of the region, and focused on preventing invasion of the reserve by fishermen, hunters and drug traffickers.
