Dr. Paulino Vigil, who is a Senacyt researcher, clarified this Friday about the possible lifting of the mandatory use of the mask in closed spaces, warning that this must occur in times of “no waves, the peak of the waves or the greatest number of It can’t be infected patients, but at times it is disappearing”.
Said warning from the doctor comes after the statements of the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, who reiterated that in two weeks the elimination of the mandatory use of the mask could be analyzed, but that everything will depend on the scientific evidence on the situation of the Covid-19 in the country.
Vigil stated that he agrees with this elimination of the measure, however, he is struck by the fact that this fifth wave has taken a little longer than the rest of the others. “Two weeks ago we had 3,000 cases per day, the week before 2,500 cases and this week it seems that 1,800 per day and it is still very high; in part, we can say that it is because the mask is not being used outside, but we have to go find a way to stop wearing that mask for everyone,” he said.
He recalled that, based on scientific evidence, the mask is taking us a little further away from contracting Covid-19 and provides a little more security, however, he did not deny that at times it is uncomfortable to wear it.
