Duque assures that electoral results will be respected by all
The Colombian president, Iván Duque, assured this Thursday that the results of the elections next Sunday, in which his successor will be chosen between the leftist Gustavo Petro and the populist Rodolfo Hernández, will be respected by all, starting with himself and by the Military Forces.
“It is very important that we go out to vote this weekend with joy, with enthusiasm, without hatred, without pressure, without fear, that we always have the certainty that the verdict of the polls will always be respected by the entire nation, by the President, by the Armed Forces, by all institutions,” Duque told reporters.
The president assured that the “Democracy Plan” is underway to guarantee the freedom of Colombians to choose their successor and to enforce the results of the elections.
“In some regions there are some armed groups that have tried to intimidate, in others there are some that have tried to constrain the voter, but here the Democracy Plan has worked. It is underway, we have all our Army, all our Police deployed in the country to guarantee that freedom », he stressed.
