And no, it’s not about the components of a movie. But the legal status of Sebastián Yunda, son of the former mayor of Quito, Jorge Yunda.
Sebastian Yunda (28 years old) was arrested by Interpol on December 1, 2021, in Argentina. Upon his return, he must comply with preventive detention, although this does not mean that he has been found guilty of any crime. His arrival in the country will be the start of a process that can take years to resolve. (AVV)
Sebastián Yunda’s legal situation
- The 20th of September from 2021 was linked to an investigation for conspiracy. A crime punishable by up to five years in prison.
- Chats found on the cell phone revealed the influence of Sebastian Yunda inside of the Municipality of Quito, while his father, Jorge Yunda, he was mayor.
- In total there are eight linked. All friends, relatives or former municipal employees of Jorge Yunda.
- Before being linked, in March 2020 Sebastian Yunda left the country. Not his father, not his lawyers they wanted to talk about his whereabouts.
- Migration reports detailed that he traveled to Panama. In September 2021 it was learned that he traveled to Bolivia. His defense said he was on a music tour.
- Judge Maximum Ortega ordered Yunda to put on an electronic shackle and report periodically to the Quito Judicial Complex. His defense ensured that ‘Baby Yunda’ would return, but he did not.
- In October 2020 it was ordered preventive detention against him.
- On November 18, 2021, an arrest warrant was issued, a ‘red alert’ from Interpol. So that Sebastian Yunda he was wanted in 194 countries.
- On December 1, 2021, he was arrested in Argentina. When he made a medical appointment, he gave himself away.
- Within 60 days you must return to Ecuador and comply with preventive detention.
