MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban activist and entrepreneur Saily González Velázquez was detained and interrogated by agents of the political police in Santa Clara, according to different reports that appeared on social networks.
“The activist Saily González Velázquez was detained by the State Security Repressive Organs. She has been interrogated for more than three hours”, reported the non-governmental organization Cubalex.
Jonatan López, partner of the young Roxana García Lorenzo, sister of the 11J prisoner Andy García Lorenzo, confirmed that the activist was in police custody.
“We went to find out about Saily González Velázquez and when we left they called me to get me in there too. I am cited or arrested. Not so easy. Release Saily now,” López wrote.
Sources assure that the entrepreneur is currently being interrogated in Police Instruction in Santa Clara. Although she was summoned this afternoon for a brief “interview”, it already extends for more than three hours.
From the activist’s own page on Facebook, it is added that Saily has been charged with “incitement to commit a crime” and that it is likely that she will be detained at the police station.
Shortly after eight at night, the activist herself announced in social networks who was in his house.
“I’m home now. Thank you all for so much solidarity I’ll tell later.”
Saily González Velázquez had been arrested on May 31 in Santa Clara while walking for the freedom of political prisoners on the Island.
The young woman was intercepted by a State Security agent in the middle of a public road. The arrest was captured live by Saily herself, who was broadcasting via Facebook Live.
During the last weeks, the Cuban authorities have closed the fence on the activist and entrepreneur, especially since she made public her invitation to the IX Summit of the Americas, an event that she was unable to attend due to the refusal of State Security. .
