MIAMI, United States. — Miami will be one of the 11 US cities that will host the 2026 Soccer World Cup, an event that will host Mexico, the United States and Canada.
The news was confirmed today by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA, for its acronym in French) in the voice of its own president, the Italian-Swiss lawyer Gianni Infantino.
“Miami-Dade is the ideal venue for the 2026 World Cup. Our residents come from all corners of the globe, creating a vibrant metropolitan area like no other in the United States,” said County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
According to official Web of Miami-Dade County, Miami, like the rest of the chosen cities, is expected to host up to a maximum of up to six games, which would take place at Hard Rock Stadium, a multi-sport stadium located in Miami Gardens.

Those responsible for the Miami bid point out that Hard Rock Stadium was built according to FIFA specifications and has hosted matches by the most important clubs and national teams.
“The Hard Rock Stadium campus is a global entertainment destination that reflects Miami’s dynamic and international culture,” said Tom Garfinkel, vice president, president and CEO of the Miami Dolphins and the facility itself.
In addition to the City of the Sun, ten other cities in the United States were chosen to host the greatest football event: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Kansas City, Houston, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle.
Toronto and Vancouver, for Canada, and Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, for Mexico, were also chosen.
“It is a very exciting day. We can see that the United States already breathes the atmosphere of a World Cup. It’s going to be very emotional to see the first World Cup with 48 teams in North America. All the figures are going to be here”, said Infantino during the announcement of the venues.
