After a week of the retention of a cargo plane with a Venezuelan flag which belongs to an Iranian company and which landed in Ezeia airport in Argentinathe Israeli Embassy in that country warned that among the detained crew there is a member of a terrorist group.
According to Israel, one of the detainees, the pilot Gholamreza Ghasemi Abbasis a senior executive of the Qeshm Fars Air airline, which is accused of helping to move weapons and military equipment of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, a group classified as terrorist by the United States.
The diplomatic delegation declared itself concerned “by the activity of Iranian airlines Mahan Air and Qeshm Fars Air in Latin America, companies that are dedicated to arms trafficking and the transfer of people and equipment that operate for the Quds Force, which are sanctioned by United States for being involved in terrorist activities”.
Despite the accusations, Argentine Security Minister Aníbal Fernándezassured that they do not have any information that links the Iranian crew with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and He stressed that this case is a homonym.
For now, the Argentine government has insisted that the justice system will be in charge of thoroughly reviewing the situation and define what to do with the plane and the 19 crew members among which there are mainly Iranians and Venezuelans.
