The country is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The cost of the purchase is estimated at 1 billion euros.

According to a statement from the agency, the Embraer plane was chosen because it has operational and technical advantages over the Lockheed Martin C-130J aircraft, another model frequently used by military forces in several countries.

In a statement, Embraer celebrated the Dutch government’s announcement and declared that it was honored with the decision.

“Recognizing that there is still a lot of work to be done in the coming months, we are committed to the success of this new phase of cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Defence,” the company said.
