The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) published the results of the Monthly Trade Survey, the Monthly Manufacturing Survey with a Territorial Focus, the Monthly Survey of Services (EMS) and the Monthly Accommodation Survey.
(In April, industry and commerce continued to rise to double digits).
Here are the April 2022 results by sector:
TRADE
Regarding the fourth month of 2021, retail and vehicle sales grew 23.3% and, compared to the fourth month of 2019, 23.4%. For its part, employed personnel in this sector decreased 1.3% compared to 2019.
Companies that sell clothing and accessories, footwear and leather substitute items registered a variation of 13.3% in April 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year.
(Colombia falls to 57th place out of 63 in the competitiveness ranking).
Also, online sales fell 11.4% compared to April 2021decreasing 0.4 percentage points (pp) to the annual variation of total retail sales, excluding sales of motor vehicles, motorcycles and their parts.
MANUFACTURE
According to the Dane, manufacturing production increased 13.5% compared to 2021 and 19.5% compared to 2019.
The beverage making was the industrial activity that contributed the most positively, since it had a variation of 22.7%, while the production of sugar and panela was the activity with the highest negative contribution with a variation of -8.1%.
ACCOMMODATION
By April 2022, income from the lodging sector grew 108.9% annually. The occupancy rate of this segment for that month was 54.8%, with a participation of 12.8 pp and 41.9 pp of non-residents.
SERVICES
In the service sector, the production of motion pictures and television programs registered a growth of 344.2% in April 2022 compared to the same month last year. Compared to 2019, it had a negative variation of 8.4%.
When comparing the fourth month of this year with that of 2021, Restaurants, catering and bars reported an increase of 71% and storage and complementary activities to transport of 38%. In this case, compared to 2019, both registered positive variations: 38.8% and 37.5% respectively.
