After 14 months, the judge files a case against mayor Hebert Márquez, who may return to the Departmental Board.

After complying with all the instances that justice imposed on him, the Judge of Colonia had to file the complaint for gender violence made by the Secretary of the Departmental Board of Colonia Claudia Maciel.

The complaint was made by Maciel after the session of April 28, 2021 when from the presidency then held by Alejandro Fioroni the microphone was cut off from the councilors, Márquez approached and took the first microphone that crossed his path to claim him to the President who is respectful of the institutionality.

That act was described as “invasion of space” of a woman, and although he did not even look at her, as it was just the microphone of the Secretary of the Board, Márquez thus entered what is qualified in law 19,580 as gender violence.

As the months went by, Márquez complied with all the legal requirements and took the steps required by law. Thus, he stayed away from the sessions of the Board, until last June 8, when the hearing to lift the measures should have been held. But it was postponed until today in which the judge had no more reasons to maintain the restriction of Márquez to return to the Departmental Board.

Consulted by EL ECO, Márquez preferred not to make any statements.
