Arturo McFields assures that Russia promotes espionage in Nicaragua

The former Nicaraguan ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) Arturo McFields affirmed that Russia, unlike the United States, intends to promote and establish espionage within the Central American country through the arrival of troops from Moscow.

Unlike the Southern Command, which has brought humanitarian aid, hospital ships, medicines, surgeries and free quality services to those who need it most, Russian cooperation promotes espionage, collective repression techniques, torture, armored tanks, not-so-secret bases. », Mcfields referred in a recent Tweet.

Opposition organizations have questioned the entry of Russian military troops into Nicaragua and demanded the entry of three international experts appointed by the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council to investigate the crimes committed in the country in the context of the sociopolitical crisis of 2018.

In a press release, the opponents pointed out that “Russia is considered worldwide as an aggressor country, a violator of international law, which is evidenced by its recent invasion of Ukraine, so its presence in Nicaragua is unacceptable.”

McFields attributes the refusal to the fact that the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega “trembles with fear. They have a lot of fear and a lot to hide, however the world already knows that they have murdered 355 and arrested 181, who suffer torture and cruel treatment. You cannot cover the sun with a finger,” said the former diplomat.

According to La Gaceta, the entry of foreign troops was previously planned and coordinated with the Nicaraguan Army, whose members were also authorized to travel to these nations to carry out humanitarian activities.

The presidential decree also authorized the entry in the second half of the year of military personnel, ships and aircraft from the United States, Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic, for purposes of exchange and humanitarian assistance.

«Enter the national territory, on a rotating basis, of eighty military personnel, ships and aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, to participate with members of the Special Operations Command “General Pedro Altamirano” of the Nicaraguan Army in an exchange of experiences and training exercise in humanitarian aid operations, from July 1 to December 31, 2022”, indicates the presidential agreement.

The “exchange of experiences and training exercise in humanitarian aid operations” between the military forces of some countries with Nicaragua is frequent and has become relevant in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a military action that has had the support of the dictatorship from Nicaragua. “It is time for Russia to deploy something powerful closer to the American city,” Russian state television presenter Olga Skabeeva announced during a broadcast.
