Given the growing shortage of gasoil that is lived in a large part of the country, the Government raised by 50% the mandatory cut of the Biofuels Law for small and medium-sized companies, to try to address the problem.
Through a resolution of the Ministry of Energy, it was established that, in order to face the shortage of gasoil, the mandatory cut will go from 5% to 7.5% for local SMEs. In addition, for companies exporting biodiesel, the cut will reach 12.5%, which will make it possible to increase the supply of gas.
According to the Executive Branch, the increase in the cut of biodiesel will be transitory, in order to address the lack of gasoil which mainly affects the productive, agricultural and transportation sectors.
In this sense, the measure for exporting companies will last 60 days, from July to August; however, the decision could be extended if fuel shortages increase.
According to the latest report from the Argentine Federation of Freight Transport Business Entities (FADEEAC), there are diesel supply problems in 21 provinces.
Of these, 14 are in critical condition, including Buenos Aires, which is why YPF also restricted the sale of fuel to vehicles with foreign patents.
For this reason, as reported by the union, the liaison table will carry out a mobilization on the routes in the coming days, in order to demand clear and immediate responses from the Government, since, until now, the measures taken have not solved the problem.
Carriers warn of lack of diesel
Roberto Guarnieri, president of FADEEAC, assured that the scarcity of gas now it reaches areas of the country where the supply remained normaleven just two provinces would not have supply problems and what worries them most is that they do not see solutions.
“The situation is getting more complicated as the days go by and what causes us the greatest concern is that we do not see concrete solutions in the short term. Increasing the biodiesel cut may be a palliative measure, but it does not resolve the underlying issue. Beyond the official announcements about the alleged importation of diesel, we are not certain when that will happen.
