Venezuela will participate in the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the most important annual conference in Russia that started yesterday and will close next Saturday, June 18.
The event will be attended by 135 countries and 2,700 representatives of the world’s business area.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, through its Twitter account, reported that the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Faría, will be present at the meeting for Venezuela, who will hold meetings with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
Another official who is part of the Venezuelan delegation is the president of the Central Bank of Venezuela, Calixto Ortega.
Likewise, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the General Director of Systems, Technologies and Development of the Central Bank, Alberto Quiñones, will be present for Cuba; and for Nicaragua, the Minister of Finance, Iván Adolfo Acosta Montalván, and the President of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), Daniel Ortega Reyes.
The advisor to the Russian president (Vladimir Putin) for international affairs, Yuri Ushakov, explained that one of the main themes of the event will be the search for alternatives on how Russia should move forward in radically new economic and political conditions in the face of the more than 10,000 foreign sanctions that affect the Eurasian nation after the conflict with Ukraine.
He stressed that despite the blockade applied by the West, representatives from France, Italy, Canada, and the United States will also attend, as well as the leaders of the self-proclaimed people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, Denís Pushílin and Leonid Pásechnik, respectively.
The 25th edition will have as its main point The new world, new opportunities and the business program is divided into four thematic axes focused on the world and Russian economy, the social and technological agenda, the development of human potential and the strengthening of diplomatic relations of Russia with Latin American countries.
Since 2016 the conference has granted guest status to one country, this 2022, the guest nation is Egypt.
According to the organizers, the first forum was held in 1997. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been attending the St. Petersburg International Forum since 2005.
