UTE and the National Colonization Institute (INC) signed a cooperation agreement by which US$ 9 million will be allocated over three years to carry out rural electrification works.
The agreement was signed this Wednesday at the Palacio de la Luz, and within this framework, the president of UTE, Silvia Emaldi, reported that in an initial stage, electricity will be provided to 230 settlers.
The INC will provide the budget and the inventory that indicates where the settlers are locatedwhile UTE will be in charge of the engineering and monitoring of the workshe explained. The installations will be of conventional networks.

Light for the whole country
The agreement is part of Uruguay 100% electric plan, for which there are 1,000 connections planned for this year, indicated Emaldi; According to him, 300 will be from photovoltaic kits and 700 will be conventional connections to the network.
The president stressed that the signed agreement “shows inter-institutionality” and is part of a plan that aims to make the entire country have access to electricity by the end of 2024.
Julio Cardozo, president of the INC, was present at the signing of the agreement, along with managers, advisors and officials of the institution and the entity.
