Deputy expelled from CD, Fátima Agrazal: ‘We never saw leadership from Mr. Rómulo Roux or support for the 15 deputies’

The verdict of the Court of Honor and Discipline of the Cambio Democrático (CD) party ordered the revocation of the mandate and the expulsion of the 15 deputies who on July 1, 2021 voted in favor of the PRD Crispiano Adames for the presidency of the National Assembly, betraying the political line of the party leadership.

With the decision, the expulsion and revocation of the mandate of the deputies are ordered: Yanibel Ábrego (general secretary of the CD), Nelson Jackson, Mercedes Gálvez (substitute for Sergio Gálvez), Hernán Delgado, Alaín Cedeño, Génesis Arjona, Fátima Agrazal, Arnulfo Díaz, Abelardo Antonío (substitute for Leopoldo Benedetti), as well as Marylín Vallarino, Dalia Bernal, José María Herrera, Lilia Batista, Leopoldo Archibold, and Mayín Correa.

The deputy Fátima Agrazal, stated this Tuesday, on Radio Panama, explained that the root of the problem does not come from the supposed vote on July 1, 2021, “this problem comes from the fact that 15 deputies do not see leadership of Rómulo Roux and we have decided to undertake by all the bases and as a result of this come our sanctions”.

He added that the legal basis of which they mention does not exist, since that July 1 no one was notified by mail, by text messages that they had a candidate for the presidency of the National Assembly.

Agrazal assured that at no time has Roux, as president of Cambio Democrático, manifested himself or given political guidelines, nor has he supported the 15 deputies on the laws that they have presented before the plenary session.

“What we are facing today is the issue of the lack of leadership of the president of Cambio Democrático to support us deputies and the bases, bases that were forgotten, bases that through the deputy Yanibel Ábrego have been reviving, this is what is happening in Cambio Democrático,” he argued.

The deputy stressed that the rest of her expelled colleagues are holding meetings with the legal team to exhaust all the legal instances they have until justice prevails, because they consider that this action by the Court of Honor and Discipline of CD is merely following guidelines ” politicians”.
