Hilario Yebara is the name of the canillita who on Wednesday morning knocked out the former leader of the Departmental Workers’ Central (COD) Rubén Ramallo.

He is a self-employed person who has been selling newspapers in the main square of Tarija, Luis de Fuentes, for 35 years.

“I am an independent worker, I do not like that they come here to blockade, because of a quilombo that is from the Government. Besides, they are just paid. They come to provoke people and harm my source of work,” declared Yebara.

The canillita faced fist blows with the former leader related to the MAS, who yesterday appeared in the square together with a group of pro-government militants who attacked the Santa Cruz governor Luis Fernando Camacho with eggs and tomatoes, to prevent him from giving a conference.

“I support my family by selling the newspaper,” Hilario commented in an interview with the local channel PlusTLT, while selling the newspapers this Thursday.

Ramallo’s violent actions annoyed the residents of the place, including Yebara, who saw his stall affected. So, in the midst of the provocation, he decided to confront Ramallo. First they exchanged shoves, until the quill sent him to the ground with a right hand.

“I had to defend myself, yesterday I found out that the fat boy who was next to him was his son and they both came to attack me, so I took a step back and fell to the ground here on the bench, I fell, then I reacted And I just attacked them because they were insulting people and as thugs they brought us down. It was because of their provocations that this whole problem started, “said Hilario.

The canillita won the sympathy of some and was the target of criticism from the Masista side. He explained that mobilizations, blockades and marches are now frequent in Tarija, which harms “the honest work” that he and his sector carry out.

“Here every other day there are mobilizations, blockades, like two weeks ago the Chaco people came to blockade the square and they harm us, especially me and my colleagues who sell here in the Luis de Fuentes square and we cannot sell the newspapers and we lose, instead of winning, we lose the day’s gain, “he lamented.
