“You could move forward (…) first gradually, looking for a previous conversation between workers and owners of capital to see if it allows certain agreements,” he said.
Along these lines, he maintained that in the talks it could be said that “instead of having 45-hour days, in all sectors, every week of the year and for all workers, let’s advance to days that, eventually, are 40 hours , approximately 10% less, but measured not in weekly terms but monthly, allowing some adaptability during the month”.
The president of the CNP pointed out that “it is not a perfect formula”, but “it is a way for both to achieve something and also give in, and it is a nice sign for what we need in other reforms in Chile, in that this cannot be a war in which some win and others lose, but it has to be a joint effort”.
