The Minister of Infrastructure, Marcelo Sampaio, said today (14) that the federal government intends, by the end of 2022, through the transport infrastructure concessions program, to reach R$ 200 billion in investment contracts from the private sector. According to the minister, the government has added R$ 100 billion to these contracts in the last three years and six months.
“We add, already hired, R$ 100 billion. If you stop to think that the budget of the Ministry of Infrastructure, in 2022, to deal with the entire agenda of a continental country, is R$ 6.7 billion, R$ 100 billion is a lot of money”, he highlighted at the Brasil Investment Forum event. (BIF) 2022, in São Paulo.
Sampaio pointed out that, since the beginning of the current administration of the federal government, 34 airports, 36 port terminals, six railways and seven highways have been granted under concession to the private sector, totaling 83 assets.
To reach R$ 200 billion in investment contracts in the transport area by the end of the year, the minister highlights new privatization rounds in 2022, such as the seventh of airports, which includes Congonhas airport and Campo de Marte, in São Paulo, and the airport of Belém. He also points to the privatization of the Port of Itajaí (SC), the Port of São Sebastião and the Port of Santos, in São Paulo.
